Therapy

Professional Philosophy

You don’t have to be resigned to feeling a certain way.

You can change the way you feel.

Sometimes while the world changes around us ,we find ourselves feeling stuck and unable to make the shifts we want in our behavior our relationships and our lives.

Sometimes we don’t even really know what we want; We just know we don’t want what we have.

You are not alone if past attempts at change have left you feeling helpless and hopeless. But no matter the circumstances of their lives- how destructive, traumatized or stuck you may feel- Time and time again I have had the honor to witness people transform themselves.

Therapy is a collaboration. Together we can get the work done.

About Me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I have been working almost exclusively in the non-profit world for the past 20 years. I received my undergraduate degree through the University of California at Davis in Psychology and Sociology.

Two of my great passions in life have been psychology and sociology, they have always seemed so intertwined. So when I decided to get a graduate degree, I looked for a school that also taught from this perspective. It took a while, but I finally found myself at New College of California enrolled in a Master’s Feminist Psychology program.

This was a terrific and amazing experience for me. I am the therapist I am because of the training and perspective I received while attending New College. Being able to deconstruct and view ourselves in context to who we are and where we are in life turned out to be a valuable tool for me as a therapist.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with the most disenfranchised and vulnerable of our communities to some of the most affluent and I have learned that WE ALL MAKE SENSE.

So my job, our work in therapy is to find that understanding together.

Fees

I work on a sliding scale fee. This means we agree on a price that works for both of us. Although I do not directly bill insurance companies, I am more than happy to provide you with any information you may need, in any format you may require, to assist you in the process of getting reimbursement for yourself.

Contact

Although my available clinical hours are usually full (there is a waitlist), I typically have individual hours available to help identify realistic short term goals and develop effective strategies to achieve them.
